Sweetwater sub-varsity football recap

Sweetwater’s sub-varsity football teams are both 3-1 for the season after splitting a doubleheader with Wall here on Thursday.
Sweetwater’s JV was de-feated for the first time this season as Wall won, 32-28, at Mustang Bowl.
After finding the end zone just once before intermission when quarterback Hayden Reeves hit Deandre Gatson on a pass of 32 yards, Sweetwater had 22 second-half points and hit paydirt three times.
Reeves threw two more scoring passes for the Mus-tangs in the third quarter, first on a 26-yard pass to Kris Duran and then on a 12-yard pass to James Clift. Martes Harris scored the last TD in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run, with Reeves throwing a 2-point pass to Duran afterward, but Sweetwater came up four points short. Jay Lomas also ran over a two-point conversion.
Lomas ran for 116 yards and Reeves was 13-of-24 passing for 108 yards, with Duran (four catches, 61 yards) the top receiver. The team’s defensive standouts were Jordan Putnam (six tackles, two for a loss) and Lomas (fumble recovery).
Sweetwater’s freshmen, meanwhile, won 20-16 with TDs on a 10-yard run by Adrian Vizzerra in the first quarter, an 8-yard run by Max Gomez in the second quarter and a 65-yard interception return by J’Corey Amos in the third stanza. Michael Lawrence had a 2-point conversion run.
Other offensive standouts were D’Jaman West (good kick and punt returns), Austin Kamer, Dylan Jiminez, Isaiah Gonzales, Max Nemir and Colby Greenwood. Amos, Lawrence, Scott Warner and Keegan Von Atzigen had interceptions while Vizzerra, Daniel Maldona-do, Branson Guelker, Cory Mendez, Denzell Moore, Israel Vera and C.J. Adam-es were also defensive stan-douts in helping Sweetwa-ter win for the third straight time after an opening loss.
