Sula Faye Redden

Sula Faye Redden, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Nolan County.
Funeral services will be held at at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Broadway Baptist Church in Sweetwater with the Rev. Lyndel Hix and the Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will be in the Sweetwater Cemetery beside her loving husband of 64 years directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
There will be a family visitation Monday, Oct. 3, at McCoy Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
Sula was born to John W. and Carrie Rushing on Dec. 23, 1919, in Wood County, Texas. She moved to Sweetwater in 1926, and later graduated from Sweetwater Newman High School in 1938. She then married the love of her life Vergil Redden on Jan. 25, 1939, in Sweetwater.
In 1963, she opened Sula’s Beauty Shop and operated it until her retirement in 1983.
She was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church for several years. She was a wonderful Christian lady, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sula was a kind and patient friend to many and the world’s best cook. Loved by all, she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Redden and wife Gail of Abilene, by Carey Redden and wife Janet of Sweetwater; by two daughters, Latria Sims and husband Wesley of Sweetwater and Darla Reed and husband Randy of Sulphur Springs, TX; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Butch Sims, Vance Sims, Chase Sims, Luke Sims, Michael Williams, Kevin Vandenberge and Mike Redden.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Baker, James Shelton and Steve Maikell.
