Suspect shot in Gill's parking lot

A suspect is dead following a shooting in Sweetwater Saturday night that stemmed from a police chase, according to DPS troopers.
Senior Trooper Sparky Dean says information remains sketchy at this point. However, it's his understanding a suspect stole a truck at gunpoint in Runnels County.
Troopers then chased the truck into Sweetwater where the driver reportedly wrecked into a car on Lamar Street and pulled into the Gill's Chicken parking lot.
According to Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager Grant Madden, a woman was rear ended by the suspect on Lamar Street and was taken to the emergency room at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Her condition was unknown.
Troopers say the suspect was shot shortly thereafter. According to DPS, one of their officers may have shot the man.
As of 10 p.m. Saturday, DPS troopers could confirm the suspect had died. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.
