After the icy weather that moved in late Monday night forced the cancellation of their games here Tuesday, Sweetwater and Big Spring will try again to play their varsity doubleheader today. As of early today, the varsity girls game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mustang Gym, followed by the varsity boys game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday’s JV and freshman games were not rescheduled.
Roscoe and Rotan have rescheduled their doubleheader for today at Roscoe, with the girls game at 4 p.m. and the boys game at 5:30, while Blackwell and Garden City also plan to reschedule their doubleheader at Garden City for today.
But the Highland girls and Highland boys managed to get a jump on the weather, as both the Hornets and Lady Hornets moved their games at Trent to Monday.
The playoff-bound High-land girls are 9-2 in District 11-A, Division II after beating Trent, 62-25. Cal-lie Sandusky’s 18 points paced the win while Jessica McCain had 13, Sierra Allen and Kara Hughey nine, Beth Richburg, Sophie Stice and Shyan Womack three and Lora Stewart and Morgan Monroe two.
The Highland boys, how-ever, fell to 2-7 in district after losing to Trent 61-41. Josh Andrews paced the Hornets with 10 points while Ron Covington had nine, Landon Rowlett eight, Kaden Nachlinger, Daniel Nelson and Ethan Wilson four and Sheldon Hall two.
