SW girls will host Clyde

The 3-0 Sweetwater boys basketball team will try to keep its record perfect when it travels to Wall today for a 7:30 p.m. contest, and the 2-4 Sweetwater girls will be hosting Clyde starting at 6:30 p.m. Today’s action for both Sweetwater teams will be their first since taking a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Mustangs prevailed 60-55 at home over Merkel in their most recent action on Nov. 22, with Paxton Kelley scoring 26 points. The Lady Mustangs, mean-while, ended a four-game losing streak with a last-second 43-42 road victory at Abilene Cooper as Candice Hernandez was fouled and hit two free throws — for her only points of the game — with just .68 showing on the game clock.
Four other area teams also play for the first time since the break. The Roscoe boys and girls go to Hawley and the boys will finally be playing their 2010-11 season opener, while Blackwell’s boys and girls host Jayton today. Both of Blackwell’s teams will host their annual Oak Creek Classic starting Thursday and Roscoe is also entered. Highland’s teams will be at the Bronte tourn-ament starting Thursday.
