SW hoop teams host Greenwood
Things have soured lately for both of Sweetwater’s basketball teams, and both are badly in need of a win heading into tonight’s Dis-trict 4-3A home games with Midland Greenwood. That’s especially true for the girls (2-4), who have lost their last three games. The boys are on a two-game skid and are 1-3 after losing at Big Spring, 55-45, on Tuesday. The biggest problem for both has getting points. The Mustangs have yet to score more than 45 points in four district games while allow-ing over 50 three times. And the Lady Mustangs, who are coming off a 54-21 loss at Big Spring, have seen their point total drop for three straight games and need a big turnaround vs. Green-wood (5-1), which is currently in second place. The Greenwood boys, like Sweetwater, are 1-3 after losing to Monahans 66-44 on Tuesday. The Rangers have dropped three straight. The teams enter tonight’s 7:30 p.m. contest locked in a tie for fourth place in District 4-3A, a game behind third-place Big Spring (2-2).The Sweetwater girls are also tied for fourth place, but if Big Spring (3-3) falls to Snyder (2-4) tonight, the Lady Mustangs will have to knock off Greenwood to avoid falling another spot in the standings to fifth place. The Sweetwater boys got their only district win Jan. 14 by beating Snyder 45-40, but have since lost to 4-3A co-leader Wylie and Big Spring. Wylie is tied for first with Monahans, which visits Sweetwater on Tuesday.
