Sweetwater varsity basketball

The Sweetwater boys and girls varsity basketball teams will have tough games against Class 2A opponents when they return to non-district action today at separate locations.
The boys (5-6) will go to Bangs, currently ranked 16th in Class 2A, for their game that is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. The Mustangs ended a five-game losing streak with a 36-33 win over Breckenridge here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Sweet-water girls (10-8) will host Ballinger at 6:30 p.m. after Tuesday’s 64-46 win over Lamesa that was the Lady Mustangs’ fourth straight this season.
While the boys travel to Andrews next Monday, to-day’s game will be the last for the girls before they take off for the Christmas break. The Lady Mustangs won’t play again until Dec. 27-29 at the Breckenridge tournament.
Both the Highland and Blackwell girls will resume district play in Class 1A to-day, with Highland going to Roby and Blackwell playing at Bronte. Both games will tip off around 6:30 p.m.
The Highland and Black-well boys have non-district games today at Water Valley (2 p.m.) and Ira (8 p.m.), respectively. In addition, the Roscoe girls host a non-district game at 7:15 p.m. today against Cross Plains, while the boys are idle.
