SW teams host Big Spring

March 21, 2014

Sweetwater’s baseball and softball teams will host Big Spring today.
The Lady Mustang softball team (0-2) will try again for its first district win starting at 5 p.m. The baseball team (1-0) — a 7-6, nine-inning winner over Greenwood in its 4-3A opener — hosts Big Spring (0-1) at 7 p.m.
Big Spring’s softball team is 0-2 in dis-trict, so today’s winner will escape the cellar. The Mus-tang baseball team (14-3 overall) has won 11 straight but was tied by Greenwood twice in its district opener until a ninth-inning error by the Rangers’ rightfielder allowed the winning run to score and break a 6-6 tie. Sweetwater pitcher J.P. Poe got the win in relief.
