Sweetwater ISD now offering tuition-supported pre-kindergarten

Sweetwater ISD is now offering a tuition-supported pre-kindergarten program (Pre-K) at the Southeast Elementary campus. Here are some facts about the program:
• Children must be three years of age on or before Sept. 1 to register.
• Children must fit the profile of a regular education student. Special Education students are served in the district through the appropriate placement.
• This is an educational program taught by a certified teacher.
• The program will follow the 177 day school calendar, and will be half-day, from 8-11 a.m. All SISD holidays will be observed. All delayed starts and/or early releases by SISD will also be observed.
• Parents must provide transportation.
• Registration began at the SISD Administration Building on Wednesday, July 9. There are 15 openings and they will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Please bring the following documents to registration:
• Photo Identification of parent/guardian enrolling student, showing name, address and date of birth (driver’s license, passport, etc.);
• Child’s birth certificate;
• Child’s Social Security card;
• Current immunization record signed by physician.
Tuition is $175 a month per student for the children of SISD employees and $200 a month per student for all others. A $100 application fee is payable by check at registration and will be deducted from the total tuition.
Building Blocks Child Care has personally tailored a program if additional care is needed. Building Blocks is across the street from Southeast Elementary. They will provide care including meals and snacks until 4:15 p.m. for an additional cost of $60 per week for this service, payable to Building Blocks. Care can also be provided until 5:30 p.m. for $70 per week. An employee from Building Blocks will walk them across the street to and from Pre-K at Southeast. Building Blocks Child Care can be contacted at 236-9551 or 338-6559 to set a time for a tour and/or pick up a packet.
