Sweetwater netters have four wins at 4-3A tourney

Sweetwater had a total of four match wins Friday at the District 4-3A tennis tournament that was held at Big Spring.

Sweetwater had a total of four match wins Friday at the District 4-3A tennis tournament that was held at Big Spring.
First-round winners were Isaiah Hernandez in boys singles, Bax-Vause in boys doubles and Jenny Medellin and Kristen Casto in girls doubles before they lost in the second round.
Hernandez defeated a Snyder player 7-5, 6-3 while Bax and Vause won 6-1, 6-2 over Greenwood. Medellin won 3-6, 6-2 (10-8) vs. Snyder, and Casto won 6-1, 6-0 vs. Monahans.
Hernandez lost to the No. 2 seed from Big Spring, while Bax-Vause and Med-ellin lost to No. 1 seeds from Wylie and Casto was elimi-nted by the No. 2-seeded player from Wylie.
Also, Stephen Shipp lost to a Snyder player 2-6, 2-6 in his opening boys singles match while in boys dou-bles, Redondo-Howell lost their only match against the No. 3 Wylie pairing.
Cherry-Butler lost 1-6, 3-6 against Monahans in their mixed doubles match and in the other mixed dou-bles match, Perez-Poe and Valdez lost 1-6, 3-6 to a pairing from Big Spring.
Wylie claimed nine of the 10 regional berths.
