Sweetwater, Roscoe host big district games today

October 19, 2012

Preview of Nolan County football action

While only two Nolan County high school football teams will see action today, their games will be crucial as Sweetwater and Roscoe will both be seeking wins on their home fields today with a chance to seriously dam-age the playoff hopes of the teams they face.
Sweetwater (1-0, 3-3) hosts Greenwood (0-1, 4-2) at 7:30 p.m. in the first-ever district meeting of the two schools, while Roscoe (1-2, 1-5) entertains Ranger (0-3, 0-6) at the same time.
Both Highland (5-2) and Blackwell (3-4) have open dates this week. The two six-man schools will begin district play on Oct. 26 after enjoying some time off.
Football won’t be the only thing on the menu today, as the Sweetwater volleyball team is also hosting Mid-land Greenwood at 5 p.m. at Mustang Gym. Sweetwater brings in a 3-5 district mark while Greenwood is 1-7.
The Lady Mustangs have just two games left in their season and both are at home. They host first-place Wylie next Tuesday. JV and freshman matches will also be on tap today.
