Terry's Homemade Ice Cream and Italian Ice has re-opened their doors for the warmer season. The business offers homemade ice cream and Italian ice made right in the shop, located at 109 Locust Street (the blue building behind the Texas Theater). The shop first opened on Labor Day weekend last year. Terry's is owned and operated by Terry and Carol Frye of Sweetwater. Karen Peyton is the store manager with Mikeilah Foust helping out as well.
Terry says that opening an ice cream shop has been a lifelong dream of his. Terry's Homemade Ice Cream and Italian Ice is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Flavors include the standard chocolate and vanilla, but more adventurous flavors such as coconut, key lime, white chocolate almond, peach, cherry, mango, Andes mint, caramel crunch, salted caramel, chocolate peanut butter, Oreo, vanilla Oreo crunch, strawberry, strawberry cheesecake and caramel coffee are also available. Flavors for the Italian ice vary as well, from cherry, lemon and mango to strawberry lemonade, black raspberry and blue raspberry. Different flavors are on the menu each day.
