Thelma Maye Adkins, 87, of Midland, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013.
Maye was born June 17, 1926 in Fisher County, TX to Sarah Edna Ferrell Walker and William Dallas Walker. Maye attended school in Roscoe, TX and also attended Texas Tech College. She taught school in Sylvester, TX. Maye was married to Gerald Adkins on Feb. 18, 1956 in Midland, TX.
Maye was a long time employee of the Midland Reporter Telegram and also worked for the Odessa American.
Maye is survived by her husband Gerald; sisters Faye Cole of San Antonio, TX and Daline Scott of Kerrville, TX; nieces and nephews include Judy Cameron of Denver, CO; David Adkins of Midland; Steve Adkins of Nashville, TN; Carol Ann Kriedel of Midland; Jeff Adkins and Mark Adkins of Midland; James Patterson of LA; Karen Sue Davis of Montgomery, LA; Jerry Robert Patterson of Montgomery, LA; Alexis Dillard of Mariette, OK; Dallas Walker of Van Alstyne, TX; John Walker of Dallas, TX; Calvin Walker of Georgeton, TX; David Scott of Pearland, TX; Diana Scott of San Antonio, TX; and Ben Cole of Albuquerque, NM.
She is predeceased by both her parents; three brothers, William, Steve and Gary; and one sister Arlene.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at the Chapel at Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy., Midland, TX. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
