The Third Annual df Ranch Triathlon will take place on Sunday, June 5, from the Lake Sweetwater public boat ramp starting at 8:30 a.m. The triathlon will consist of a 500m swim, 14 mile bike and a 5k run. This year there is a new addition to the race. It is labeled the Land Lovers division. This accommodates athletes who don't want to swim. A designated swimmer will complete the swim for them, and then, the athlete will take off from transition and complete the race on the bike and the run side by side with the rest of the triathletes.
The df Ranch Triathlon was a success during its first two years, but due to conflicts with the Tour de Gap in Abilene, the race has changed dates. The event is now the first Sunday in June. The race is championship timed, and is limited to 225 participants. The triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event produced by USA Triathlon certified race directors that raises money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association.
The overall, second and third place male and female winners in each age group will receive medals. All participating athletes will receive a race t-shirt and all finishers will receive a unique gift.
The triathlon is always in need of experienced kayakers and volunteers to assist in a race that tries to do so much for so many. To get involved or find out more information about this event, please visit www.fastfeetracing.com.
