Thomas Vinson Cumbie

Funeral services for Thomas Vinson Cumbie, 78, of Sweetwater, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Rev. Kary Frye will officiate with interment to follow at Double Mountain Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Cumbie died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in Sweetwater.
He was born April 3, 1935 in Clairemont, Texas. He married Patsy Meador on July 29, 1954 in Aspermont, Texas.
He was a member of the Nolan County Livestock Association, where he was very involved. He was a big supporter of Sweetwater FFA. He was a Baptist and a member of the Elks Lodge. Thomas worked his life in the oil business with Skelly Oil Company, Getty Oil Company and Texaco Oil Company. He loved fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Cumbie of Sweetwater; daughter, Kathie McElroy and husband Charles of Sweetwater; son, Dennis Cumbie and wife Lou Ann of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Cody McElroy and wife Mia of Weatherford, Brandie Gee and husband Jarrod of Sweetwater, Sarah Cumbie of Austin and Blake Cumbie of Sweetwater; great-grandchildren, Peyton Gee, Gwendolyn McElroy and Barrett McElroy; sister, Joann Gardner of Tahoka, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barnie and Ada Cumbie.
Pallbearers are Doug Richards, Eddie Puckett, Allen Cumbie, Cliff Gardner, Kenneth Dudensing and Roger Graham.
