Three other teams in SW’s pool at 7-on-7 tourney

July 2, 2014

Sweetwater will be taking on three other teams in its pool when it plays July 10-11 at the Division II state 7-on-7 championships at College Station, which has a 64-team field.
Three pool games will be played on Thursday, July 10 at 16 different fields located at the Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the championship round on the second and final day; the remaining two teams from each pool will advance to the consolation bracket also held on the final day. The championship and consolation finals will be played on July 11 at approximately 3 and 4 p.m., respectively.
Sweetwater’s Pool L also includes Boerne, Cuero and Gilmer. All teams qualified by finishing in the top two of their state qualifying tournaments. Sweetwater defeated Godley (42-22), Grandview (35-26), Eastland (37-29) and Tolar (40-26) at its state qualifying tournament last month in Stephenville.
Sweetwater did not play a championship game against Gatesville at the tourna-ment because both teams had already qualified for the state championships at College Station by winning their semifinal games.
