The Highland girls picked up their 10th win while the Roscoe boys got into the win column for the first time on Tuesday night.
Highland’s girls improved to 10-2 as they rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit for a 62-50 win on the road at Albany. Highland trailed 31-21 at halftime, but then cut Albany’s lead to 40-38 after three quarters and used a 24-10 finish to get the victory. Sierra Allen led Highland by scoring 18 points while her sister, Hannah Allen, added 16. Sydny Helbert and Beth Richburg had nine points, Lora Stewart with six and Kaylee Martin and Madison Moseley two.
Highland’s girls and boys will be the host teams for their Hilltop Classic that starts today and also in-cludes Roscoe and Black-well (see schedule).
Jesus Leanos had 13 points and Dillon Freeman and Javier Leanos nine as the Roscoe boys (1-4) got their first victory, 44-39, at Trent in overtime. The game was tied 33-33 at the end of regulation. Also for Roscoe, Shelton Toliver had seven points, Cutter Davilla three, Luke Rovig two and Brant Burnett one. But Trent defeated Roscoe 37-34 in the girls game. Faith Boren led Roscoe (6-4) with 11 points while Eva Aguayo had nine, Torrey Willman five, Mirian Solis three and Stina Tomlin, Carolina Perez and Shelby Brown two.
Blackwell’s boys (2-4) won 51-24 over Westbrook on Tuesday. Mason Magness led Blackwell with 14 points while Mark Monroe added 12. Jayden Jones had eight, Ethan Andrews six, Franck Cano four, Ted Chambliss three and Wade Allen and Bennie Wester two to com-plete the scoring. But the Blackwell girls (1-6) lost 69-49 against Westbrook in their contest Tuesday.
Stephanie Metcalf poured in 21 points to pace Black-well, while Hailey Bennett also reached double figures with 16. Brooklyn Harris had seven points for the Lady Hornets, whose only victory came against Loraine last week at Blackwell’s Oak Creek Classic. Blackwell’s teams play Roscoe today.
