Trial begins in indecency case

A trial began on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in the 32nd Judicial District Court against Larry Clarence Staton with Judge Don L. Jarvis officiating. District Attorney Ann Reed and Assistant District Attorney Barrett Thomas are prosecuting the case and Jeffrey Allen is the attorney for the defense.
Staton has been charged with indecency with a child by contact, a second degree felony and indecency with a child by exposure, a third degree felony. The indictment states that the offenses occurred on Sept. 1, 2010 to a child younger than 17 years of age.
The child that was allegedly molested was the son of Staton's former girlfriend, who he was in a relationship with for about three years.
The trial will resume on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
