The church family at Trinity Baptist Church is blessed to welcome our new pastor, Bro. Matt McGowen, to the pulpit this Sunday. Easter Sunday is an historical date for our church. The very first worship service in Trinityâs newly-built sanctuary in 1958 was held on Easter Sunday. Our previous pastor, Bro. Ward Hayes, preached his first sermon as our pastor on Easter Sunday, 2003. Bro. Matt will preach his first sermon at Trinity on Easter Sunday. Welcome to Sweetwater, Bro. Matt, Sonda, Ava, Addy, Alma and Athan McGowen!
Even more importantly on Easter Sunday, we will rejoice and celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After the darkest week in Christian history, when our Lord was crucified and laid in a grave, He rose after three days (just as He said He would), and continues to live in our hearts to this very day! A citizen of Jerusalem, talking with a Christian, was bewildered at why Christians wanted to go to Jerusalem. His comment was, âWhy do you want to go to Jerusalem? Thereâs nothing there but an empty tomb!â But thatâs it! There IS nothing there but an empty tomb! Jesus is alive! He arose from the dead! He lives!
Trinity Baptist Church provides a loving, caring, casual atmosphere for worship, with a mix of traditional and contemporary music. At Trinity, we want you to feel as if you are being welcomed home. Our worship times are as follows:
9:30 a.m. â Sunday school (for all ages!)
10:45 a.m. â Sunday morning worship
6 p.m. â Sunday evening Bible studies (youth and adults), childrenâs choir, childrenâs Bible drill
6:30 p.m. â Adult and youth Bible studies and prayer time; childrenâs TeamKID
Trinity will not have an Easter egg hunt this year, but we look forward to greeting your children after morning worship with a special treat. As our gift to those who attend worship with us on Easter Sunday, we will have backdrops in place in our Family Life Center to take family portraits. So make plans now to bring your family, worship with us and stay for portraits following worship.
Traditionally, Trinity will dismiss evening services this Sunday so that our members can enjoy the remainder of Easter Sunday with their families.
Join us this Easter Sunday at Trinity. We are located at the corner of Hailey and Santa Fe Streets here in Sweetwater. Come early and bring your friends and family.
If you would like to speak with us regarding your relationship with Jesus Christ, please drop by our offices, located at 1503 Crescent Drive, or give us a call at 235-2991. For more information about our church, please visit our website at www.trinitysweetwater.com.
âHe is not here; He has risen, just as He said!â (Matthew 28:6)
Broadway Baptist Church
Can you imagine what it would have been like to be the man of Cyrene that was named Simon, who was yanked out of the crowd and compelled (literally forced) to have to carry the cross of Christ while following Him up Calvary? Imagine sharing in the humiliation of rejection, sorrow and suffering. Imagine having His blood on your hands and garments. Imagine feeling the warmth of His blood across your body. Imagine the look in the Saviorâs eyes as you lifted it from His back, when He fell beneath the load.
What would you have thought?
⢠Can I carry this cross?
⢠Am I physically able?
⢠I donât want that blood on me!
⢠Get someone else!
Imagine the inner turmoil Simon felt as the Roman soldier, the executioner, drew near to take it off his back, lay it on the ground and beganto nail Christ to it. Imagine the burden that had been lifted off his shoulders that day, when the Roman soldier said, âOk, you have done your job. This is His cross! You are free, so get out of here.â
Yes, Jesus bore our burdens at Calvary, died for us, and shed His blood that we might befree. As you celebrate Easter remember He took your place! I Peter 3:18 says, âFor Christ also hath once suffered for our sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.â

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons)
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joins with the rest of the Christian world this week in celebrating Easter and remembering the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Churchâs First Presidency issued this Easter message:
This is the season of the year when the Christian world remembers the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Out of love for His Father and for us, the Savior allowed Himself to suffer beyond the capacity of mortal man. He said, âWhich suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit â and would that I might not drink the bitter cup and shrink â Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.â (Doctrine and Covenants 19:18-19).
Our Savior broke the bands of death. Through His Resurrection there is assurance that life is everlasting. Our Lord and Savior is the living witness that such is so.
As special witnesses, we declare that God does live. Jesus Christ is His Son, the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh. He is our Redeemer, our Mediator with the Father. Jesus Christ atoned for our sins. He became the firstfruits of the Resurrection. Because He died, all shall live again.
