TSTC to offer Italian cooking classes

October 15, 2011

TSTC Sweetwater recently announced a series of culinary classes for the community.
"A Tour of Italy: Learn the Art of Italian Cuisine” is a series of four classes that will take place on Monday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m. The classes will meet on Monday, Nov. 7, 14, 28 and Dec. 5 in Room 127 of the Temple Dickson building at TSTC Sweetwater. Participants can enroll in just one class or all four. Each class costs $50 and will be taught by TSTC Sweetwater chefs.
On Nov. 7, "Pasta and Sauces,” participants will learn how to make ravioli, fettuccini and gnocchi along with marinara, alfredo and pan sauces. For dessert participants will make tiramisu.
Not interested in pasta? That’s okay, TSTC is cooking up something for everyone. Check out the "Appetizers" class on Nov. 14 and learn how to make these staple starters — caesar salad, carpaccio, tapenade, fried calamari, bruschetta, salad caprese, aioli and zuppa alla paviese with panna cotta for dessert.
On Nov. 28, the Tour of Italy continues with our "Italian Favorites" class. You’ll definitely want to join us for these yummy classics - risotto, eggplant rolls, polenta, peperonta, french bread, osso bucco, asparagus parmigianino and torta caprese.
And, in the final class on Dec. 5 entitled “Complete Meals,” participants will create two full course meals. Meal One will include antipasto salad, fried ravioli, lasagna and gelato; and meal two includes fish stew, stromboli with pesto, chicken parmesan and biscotti.
The classes offer a hands-on learning experience and at the end of the class, students will taste their creations. Class sizes are limited and are on a first-come, first serve basis however if there are not enough participants for a class, the class may be rescheduled or cancelled.
