TSTC offers continuing education classes

April 2, 2011

In response to community requests, Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater will begin offering continuing education classes. The Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Excel and Basic Networking Skills classes are available to the entire community.
"Scheduling and curriculum will be flexible to meet the needs of our community," said TSTC Interim President Gail Lawrence. There are basic and advanced classes in each subject and the students can self-assess their skill level.
Local businesses are jumping in on the action by signing up their employees for classes.
Microsoft Excel: Learn to create a budget, organize information, use calculations, import information, track expenses, convert numbers to a chart or graph.
Microsoft Word: Learn to address and print envelopes, make labels, forms and flyers, write reports, letters and resumes, check spelling, grammar, create invitations and greeting cards.
Basic networking class: Learn how to set up a wireless access point when there is an existing network, set up a non-networked printer and share to several computers, troubleshoot difficulties in accessing the internet, recognize various pieces of equipment in a small network, reboot routers and switches and install and configure AVG anti-virus (free) protection.
All Microsoft classes may be taught in either Office 2007 or Office 2010. The classes will give businesses the ability upgrade to newer versions of Microsoft Office as well.
