May 7, 2014

TSTC West Texas students Trevor Reeves, Bobbie Guzman, Benjamin Guerra, Carl Mays, Josh Lacy, Jason Loveless, Hunter Harper, Rubicel Martinez, Armando Gurrola, Ross Weiner, Edwin Latimer, Rogelio Lopez, Havier Vargas are in Las Vegas for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) WINDPOWER conference. AWEA is sponsoring the students who are volunteering at the conference from May 5-8.
WINDPOWER is the annual conference and exhibition for the U.S. Wind industry. It’s the nexus of wind energy professionals who converge to generate actionable ideas for expanding the wind energy economy through technology and collaboration. “This is a great opportunity for our students,” said TSTC Instructor Chris Boone. “They will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals from around the country.”
In addition to being stellar Wind Energy & Turbine Technology students these students are active members of the Winds of Texas student organization. Trevor Reeves serves as President, Bobbie Guzman is Treasurer and Benjamin Guerra is Parliamentarian. Boone serves as the Winds of Texas club advisor and worked with AWEA to coordinate this opportunity for the students. Boone and TSTC Instructor James Beall accompanied the students on the trip. The group made stops at the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam on the way to the conference.
The TSTC Wind Energy & Turbine Technology was among the first schools in the nation to be awarded the AWEA Seal of Approval, which began in 2011.
