TSTC West Texas awarded grant for mobile welding trainer

Texas State Technical College West Texas has received a $278,712 grant from the Office of the Texas Comptroller’s Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program.

Texas State Technical College West Texas has received a $278,712 grant from the Office of the Texas Comptroller’s Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program. 
TSTC West Texas will build a mobile welding training center using the grant. According to the Project Director, Rick Denbow, the mobile training lab will be used on-site at companies industry and educational locations that require training for new and incumbent employees. According to Denbow, “With our new mobile trainer we can offer area and regional industrial companies an opportunity to give training in advanced welding techniques to their new employees or to employees that are ready for advancement. We expect to provide training for about 42 individuals this first year.”
The mobile welding training center will be a completely self-contained, semi-trailer that includes a classroom, eight welding stations and an instructor’s station. All welding and cutting equipment, power generator, lighting, air handling and extraction/exhaust systems are permanently installed in the trailer.
