Two transported in wreck, wet road to blame

September 20, 2013

Two people were transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital on Thursday between 11 a.m. and noon after a wreck occurred along the US 84 Interstate 20 split, just east of the bridge in the west bound lanes.
One patient was in stable condition and the other was in guarded condition at the time of their transport by Sweetwater emergency services. The driver of a Chevrolet truck pulling a van lost control on the rain slicked road and struck the guardrail.
It took crews about 15 minutes to extricate one of the passengers from the wreckage. The Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and members of the Sweetwater Fire Department responded to the scene.
The top of the vehicle and passenger side doors had to be removed after they were mostly removed by the wreck.
