TxDOT recently installed crosswalks and stop bars at the intersection of Broadway and Cypress Streets in Roscoe. The work was completed at the request of the city to enhance pedestrian safety.
TxDOT reminds pedestrians that it is much safer to use crosswalks rather than crossing the street at mid-block. Drivers approaching crosswalks should stop behind the stop bar when pedestrians are crossing. This will give pedestrians ample space to cross and will allow other drivers approaching the intersection to see that the crosswalk is occupied.
The Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining 80,000 miles of road and for supporting aviation, rail, and public transportation across the state. TxDOT and its 11,000 employees are committed to working with others to provide safe and reliable transportation solutions for Texas by maintaining a safe system, addressing congestion, connecting Texas communities, and being a Best in Class state agency.
