NOLAN COUNTY — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin a project this week to make major improvements to US 84 in Nolan County from Roscoe to the Mitchell County line.
The project will involve reconstructing about three miles of the eastbound lanes and adding a 4-foot inside shoulder from just northwest of Roscoe to five miles east of the Mitchell County line. The outside shoulder of the roadway will remain 10 feet. To prepare for this work, crews will temporarily move all traffic to the westbound side. There will be one lane of traffic in each direction while the eastbound lanes are under construction. After the eastbound work is complete, traffic will be restored to two lanes in each direction.
The project also includes resurfacing almost nine miles of the westbound lanes from FM 608 to the Mitchell County line.
All work is expected to be completed by late 2014. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution when traveling through the construction zone and be alert for changing traffic situations.
Price Construction, LTD of Big Spring will complete the work for $11.5 million.Â
