V’ball summer league is set to begin June 28

Sweetwater High School gyms hosting volleyball activities

The 2011 Sweetwater Volleyball Summer League will be held Tuesday nights this summer and will begin Tuesday, June 28. It will be held mainly at the Sweetwater High School new and old gyms. League age groups will be for the 2011-12 school year and are as follows: grades 7-8, ninth/JV and varsity. Also, a tournament will be held Tuesday, July 19 at the same locations. This is an opportunity for all volleyball players to get some additional volleyball experience. The entry fee will be $25 per player, and all checks should be made out to Sweetwater Summer Volleyball.

No Short Cuts camps slated
Two “No Short Cuts” volleyball camps will be held in early July. Both are all-skills camps that will emphasize the six individual skills as well as applying those skills in group and team play. The primary focus is to improve each player’s individual skills during the off-season.
The areas of concern that will be addressed are ball control, movement, attacking and blocking.
All campers will receive a T-shirt.
A “No Short Cuts” camp for students who are entering grades 7-8 will be held Wednesday, July 6 at the Sweetwater High School gym from 9 a.m. to noon and also from 1-4 p.m. The cost is $50. A “No Short Cuts” camp for students who are entering grades 9-12 will be held Thursday and Friday, July 7-8, at the SHS gym. The times are 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. both days. The cost is $95.
