Vesta Lea Wilson, 62, died early Monday morning, Nov. 25, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at Highland Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Clower will be officiating and interment will follow at Decker Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
There will be a formal family visitation on Friday at Highland Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Vesta, lovingly know as âSisâ was born in Sweetwater, Texas on Aug. 11, 1951 to Jack and Beulah Chapman. She married Don L. Wilson Nov. 4, 1973 in Blackwell, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2009; her father Jack in 1965; and her sister Monty in 2008.
She is survived by her loving mother Beulah Chapman of Blackwell; a brother, Randy Chapman and wife Gayla of Vernon; a step daughter, Lea Ann Wilson and husband Ed of Hartford, KS; step grandchildren, Tyeson Kustrnborter of Topeka, KS, Cody Saving of Wichita, KS and Tanner Whitcomb of Centerville, KS; nephew, Tom Chapman and wife Tamara of San Antonio; great-niece, Kyleigh Chapman; great-nephews, Daulton and Mitchell Chapman of San Antonio; and countless relatives and dear friends.
Vesta graduated from Blackwell High School in 1969. She went on back to nursing school at TSTC in Sweetwater, graduating in 1971. She worked at Simmons Memorial Hospital and then Rolling Plains Hospital from 32 years as a LVN until her retirement. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the Highland Baptist Church. She lived in Blackwell and Sweetwater all her life.
Pallbearers will be Homer Grimes, Hoppy Sedberry, Tommy Bledsoe, Rudy Garza, Skipper Gaston, Tommy Cornelious, Daulton Chapman and Kelly Hayes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Larry McEachern and Robert Bledsoe.
