The first week of Football Frenzy came and went with near perfection and a whimper and a $500 winner!
Alicia Vasquez outthunk and prognosticated better than 95 other entries to walk away with $50. She had 15 of the 20 games picked right to tie two others. We went to the tie-breaker, where Alicia only missed LSU’s total by one point and Auburn’s by three. She had LSU winning 27-24 and the Bayou Bengals actually won 26-21.
Alicia did very well in looking over the merchant’s scores as she entered at the second closest place, Nolan Furniture. The fine folks across from the Reporter office were only off by eight total points.
But the champion guesser for week one was Midwest Finance. They only missed Georgia’s score by one point while perfectly guessing the Sundevils’ 10-point total. If Alicia had entered there, she would have taken $500 of the Reporter’s money!
Here are the top five merchants for week one:
Midwest Finance, Georgia over Arizona St 28-10, missed by one point;
Nolan Furniture, LSU over Auburn 27-14, missed by eight;
McDonalds, Go Cowboys! over Packers 21-14, eight points;
Roscoe State Bank, Blackwell over Paint Creek 48-6, nine points;
Check Mart, Colts over Jags, nine points.
You might notice that Check Mart had the wrong winner, but as a Frenzy player, you care about the total number of points!
