The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department has received the flu vaccine for children through the Texas Vaccine for Children Program. The cost per child is $6.
"We're at the mercy of the state when it comes to those shots," said Public Health Promotions Coordinator Linda Kite. "They purchase the vaccine and make it available to city and county health departments whenever they can. We just received ours." The Health Department will host flu clinics Oct. 6-10, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. A regular immunization clinic along with a flu clinic will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, with extended hours until 6 p.m. The cost of an adult flu shot is $20 and a pneumonia shot is $40. Visitors with Medicare are asked to bring their card along with any supplement insurance plans. For more information, please call the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department at 235-5463. |
