Jaycees serve over 400 on Thanksgiving Day

The Sweetwater Jaycees served over 400 hot meals on Thanksgiving Day during their annual Thanksgiving Day Feed. Only some of the volunteers were, including this year’s chairperson of the event, Linda Ashford, along with Norman Ashford, Riley Sawyers, Robert Fortin, Pamela Fortin, Joe Fortin, Lola Fortin, Cal Parks, Clint Parks, Mark Sager, Marlyn Gage, Eithel Gage, Red Herd, Acey Hurn, Julie Hurn, Caden Cornutt, Ray Cornutt, Kevin Sager, Pascual Ortiz, Gary Armstrong, David Sager, Carla Sager, Gene Bartlett, Jan Bartlett, Scott Cagle, Tammey Cagle and Teddy Kidd. Several Jaycees not pictured were delivering meals and serving food at the event. The Jaycees have been feeding Sweetwater each Thanksgiving since 1984. Over 300 meals were delivered and over 100 people were served at the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall on Thanksgiving. The Sweetwater Jaycees wish to extend a special thanks to Fuller Foods for donating a large amount of the food, as well as Texas State Technical College, First United Methodist Church, RHOCHI and SNAP, along with all of the volunteers who made the Thanksgiving Day Feed a success.
