Sweetwater firefighters use fire to fight the remaining hot spots after putting out the perimeter of the grass fire that happened South West of Roscoe yesterday morning. Below, pictured from left to right are Sweetwater firefighters Richard Acuna, Todd Donham, Tim Clyburn and Russell Reeves. The truck shown in the background is Brush 6 of the Sweetwater Fire Department, just one of the vehicles that assisted in putting out the fire. SFD also had another brush truck at the scene. The Loraine Volunteer Fire Department and Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department each had two brush trucks at the scene of the fire which burned approximately 65-70 acres of land — mostly CRP — owned by H.D. Parrott. The Nolan County tanker (water truck) also helped battle the blaze that began around 10 a.m. at the corner of CR 105 and CR 135 in Roscoe. The fire began by the road and the cause is unknown. The smoke from the fire could be seen in Sweetwater.
