Sweetwater High School senior Halie Browning (left) and SHS junior Shelby Scott (right) traveled to the Texas Capitol on President's Day as part of their internship with the Texas Wind Energy Clearinghouse. The SHS students met with legislative officials, toured the Capitol and the Texas State History Museum, and met with manufacturing officials during a tour of the TECO-Westinghouse wind turbine factory in Round Rock to see DeWind turbines in the assembly process. Students from Sweetwater, Highland, Roscoe and Blackwell have served as interns at the Texas Wind Energy Clearinghouse, as have college students from Texas Tech, Angelo State, West Texas A&M, Baylor, Western Texas College and Texas State Technical College. There are currently two high school students and six college students in the internship program.
