Masons to host dinner benefitting WTCAC |

According to Prevent Child Abuse America, it is estimated that the direct cost of child abuse in the United States is $33,101,302,133 annually. It is estimated that the indirect cost of child abuse in the United States is $70,652,715,359 annually. However, the cost of losing even one child to child abuse can not be calculated.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center will host the Fourth Annual Child Abuse Awareness Banquet to kick off the month. The banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex. Dinner and live entertainment will be provided and all proceeds will benefit the WTCAC. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 235-1818. Also, Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will have a benefit dinner and silent auction benefiting the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center. The event will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex. Tickets are $10 for the event. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. “The public is invited to come early to bid on great items donated by our wonderful local businesses. Thank you to all the business that are participating,” said Mason Jim McKenzie. Some items for auction are a Waterford vase donated by Cox Jewelry, a portable ping pong table donated by Longhorn Liquor, a Montana bronze statue donated by Dandy's Western Wear, home season football tickets donated by Sweetwater Independent School District, along with several gift certificates from local restaurants and much more. Dinner for the evening will be chicken, German sausage with all the trimmings served by the WTCAC board members and Masons from the lodge. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. WTCAC executive director Anita Davidson will speak about the center. Entertainment will be provided by our very Aubrey Turnbow and others. “The Masonic Lodge #571 is having this dinner and auction to help out the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center. We feel it's a very important facility on our community in which to help children that need support during very rough times. They have an excellent staff and we encourage everyone to mark their calendar for March 28, and come help us support the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center,” said McKenzie. Tickets will be sold at the door, but for advance tickets, contact McKenzie at 669-2144. Also, reserved tables will be sold for 10 tickets. The WTCAC and High Sky Children's Ranch will also host their fourth annual Family FunFair Friday, April 3. The event will be from 4-6 p.m. at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex. There will be food and games for the entire family along with a prayer vigil and music. Door prizes will be given away at this free event. The public is invited to attend. |
