The Leadership Sweetwater class of 2008-2009 graduated Wednesday during a ceremony held at Texas State Technical College. The graduates were treated to a dinner provided by TSTC, a video presentation and the awarding of their certificates. Shown are graduates (and sponsors) Dayla Graham, Richard Bowman, CPA; Shana Hrbacek, Hendrick Medical Supply; Janis McDowell, First Financial Trust & Asset Management; Jennifer Rosas, Nolan County United Way; Mick Truitt, Ludlum Measurements; Julie McLemore, Rolling Plains Rural Health Clinic; Marina Nemir, Texas State Technical College West Texas; Billie J. Berry, Kelley Services; and Carolyn Lawrence, City of Sweetwater. Not pictured are Donnie Armstrong, Texas State Technical College West Texas; Nathan Ehlert, Sweetwater Independent School District; and Kirstin Marshall-Smith, Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development. Leadership Sweetwater is designed to cultivate leadership skills and educate current and future community leaders through a serious approach which involves the shared counsel of knowledgeable speakers complemented by providing interesting and exciting opportunities both locally and beyond the Sweetwater community. In addition, Leadership Sweetwater participants had the chance to travel to Austin for first-hand experience in the inner workings of state government and also made a trip to Dyess Air Force Base to learn about U.S. military preparedness.
