The Sweetwater Elks Lodge hosted a flag disposal ceremony in honor of Flag Day Sunday evening. The ceremony is a time where American flags that are no longer fit for display are destroyed by burning during a ceremony. Flags were gathered from a variety of public places in the community. The Sweetwater American Legion, who will have their own ceremony at a later date, also participated Sunday. A group of local Boy Scouts participated in the retirement of flags, as shown.
