Nolan County United way kicks off 2010 campaign |

Nolan County United Way recently announced the start of their 2010 "Live United" Campaign. This year's goal is 70,000 and the campaign began Sept. 15, and will run to Dec. 31.
The Nolan County United Way board is made up of 12 volunteers from throughout the community. These members are Martin Baker, Ludlum Measurements; Kirby Andrews, First Financial Bank; Mike Sheehan, First Financial Trust; Megan Beard, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital; Kathy Smartt, SISD; Lonna Walker, TSTC; Charles Roberson, Retired from Lone Star Industries; Dennis Moseley, SISD; Vicky May, Texas National Bank; Cynthia Spradlin, City of Sweetwater; Mickey Hayes, Sweetwater Teachers Credit Union; and Scott Vause, Riggs and Wootan. Nolan County United Way supports 10 local agencies. These agencies include Boy Scouts Texas Trails Council, Cancer Services Network, Gateway Family Services, Girl Scouts Texas Oklahoma Plains, Women's Resource Center, West Texas Child Advocacy Center, Senior Nutrition Activities Program, West Texas Opportunities and the American Red Cross. Each agency has undergone a thorough and detailed review of their financial condition and statement of need with the budget committee. The campaign kicked off with a CEO Luncheon and a one day Blitz Drive for small businesses. Listen to KXOX's morning show for board member and agency interviews.
