Bergstrom named 2009 Outstanding Female Citizen |

The Outstanding Female Citizen award for 2009 was given to Karan Bergstrom. Marjorie Wilks, last year's winner, presented her with the award.
Currently, Bergstrom serves as corresponding secretary for Xi Alpha Alpha Kappa chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Bergstrom is very involved with her church, First United Methodist Church. She is the board president for the Children's Day Out program at First United Methodist Church. She is the secretary and a past president of United Methodist Women an is the co-chair for a gala being held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, that will benefit the church's ministries. Bergstrom volunteers when she is needed at the food pantry at her church, Gaylord's Pantry. Bergstrom is in charge of the Seniors in Touch banquet held in May of every year. She also serves on various committees and volunteers at schools where her grandchildren attend. Her most treasured time is spent playing with her grandchildren. "There is nothing greater to the ears than to hear the words, 'Maw Maw,'" she said. |
