he home of Billy and Kay Hallman, located at 1201 E. 13th Street, will be a stop during the Tour of Homes on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009. The Hallman home was originally built in 1951, by Bailey Choate, an area builder, for Dr. June and Louise Young and their children, Flack, Wells and Gay. Initially, the home was a two bedroom, one bathroom cottage with a living room, formal dining room, kitchen and bathroom, providing the family comfort and convenience.
In 1957, the house was remodeled. The house was totally reconfigured, moving the kitchen from the west side of the house to the northeast side. The breakfast area became a library and the living room and dining room became bedrooms. The bedroom that Gay and Flack shared became the formal dining room. The kitchen was converted into two bedrooms which could be separated by a sliding wall. A large living room, bedroom and bathroom were also added onto the southeast side. Billy and Kay moved into the home in 2006. They have three grown children, Scott and wife Georgiana and their three sons, Tyler, Jared and Cade, live in Lubbock. Gregg and wife Yvonne and their four children, Gray, Emily, Kate and Gregg, live in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Their daughter, Lesli and son-in-law Shane Tomlin live in Sweetwater. |
