The Nolan County primary election is quickly approaching and the voting process will begin within the coming weeks. The last day to register to vote in the primaries will be Monday, Feb. 1, 2010. The first day of early voting will be Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. Early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the County Clerk's office, located at 100 E. Third Street, Suite 108. The last day for early voting will be Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.
The last day for the County Clerk to receive an application to vote by mail will be Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010. Election day is Monday, March 2, 2010. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day. Here are the polling places for the Democrat precincts: • Precinct 1 and 10 — First Methodist Church in Sweetwater, 309 Cedar. • Precinct 2 — Trinity Baptist Church in Sweetwater, 1506 Santa Fe. • Precinct 3 and 11 — Lamar Street Baptist Church in Sweetwater, 513 Lamar. • Precinct 4 and 12 — Evangelical Methodist Church in Sweetwater, 700 Lamar. • Precinct 5 — Nolan/Divide Community Center in Nolan, 1742 FM 126. • Precinct 6 and 13 — Roscoe Community Center in Roscoe, 100 Bois D'Arc. • Precinct 7 — Blackwell School in Blackwell, 610 North Alamo. • Precinct 8 — Maryneal Community Center in Maryneal, 210 Walnut. • Precinct 9 and 14 — Avondale Baptist Church in Sweetwater, 1405 Hoyt. Here are the polling places for the Republican precincts: • Precincts 1-5, 7-9 and10-14 — Central Fire Station in Sweetwater, 900 E. Broadway. • Precincts 6, 8 and 13 — Roscoe Community Center in Roscoe, 100 Bois D'Arc. Candidates have already drawn for places on the ballot. They are as follows.
