AARP and IRS will sponsor as a public service free income tax return preparation, including e-file at Fisher County Courthouse in Roby and at the Rotan Library. Roby dates are Feb. 11, March 4, and April 8, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Rotan dates are Feb. 11, March 4, and April 8, from 9 a.m. until noon. The service will be offered at SNAP in Sweetwater on Feb. 9, March 9, and April 6, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The service will also be offered at the Senior Citizen Center on Ave. M in Snyder on Feb. 3, March 10, and April 7, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
In order to have a tax return prepared, two forms of identification will be needed. One must be a photo I.D. such as a driver's license. The second must be the original or a copy of one's Social Security Card or Form SSA-1099 or the ITIN Card or letter. Participants are asked to bring last year's tax return, dependent's and spouse's Social Security cards and their birth dates. This year, even if you do not itemize your deductions, real estate taxes can be added on homes or new car taxes to one's standard deduction. If that applies to you, bring documentation of taxes paid. There are credits for first-time home buyers, energy efficient appliances or energy improvements to your homes and the American Opportunity Education (full time college students). The Hope credit is extended for all four years of college. Bring evidence of those if you qualify or ask us of you may qualify. |
