Roscoe is starting slow, but aiming high. Roscoe is slowing starting to expand and draw attention to the area. There are three big celebrations throughout the year, and now they are adding one more thing. The Shelansky building, located next to city hall, will soon be the site for the Roscoe Vendor Mall. The mall will include basically anything and everything that people would like to sell.
"It's a chance to sell your items in a nice environment," City Manager Cody Thompson said. "If they don't sell anything then they don't owe anything." The booths will be free of charge and measure 8 X 4. Twenty percent of the income that the vendors make will be deducted. A portion of the money will go to the owner of the building and the rest will go to the vendors. "Anyone in the surrounding Nolan County areas is encouraged to attend and take part in this event," Thompson said. "We are hoping to make this a permanent thing, but it all depends on the response." The vendor mall is expected to be up and running sometime between April 1 and 15. Vendors with handmade jewelry, iron works, pottery or any other types of crafts are welcome. Even those that have slightly used items are encouraged to get a space and take part. "Resale baby and children items are a popular thing," Thompson said. If you are interested in taking part in the event, call 766-3871. There will be a meeting on March 4, at 6 p.m., at the Shelansky building for vendors. If for some reason you can't make the first meeting, there will be a second meeting on March 16, at 6:30 p.m. |
