To tell a story is to write a piece of history. It’s a persons way of leaving their mark on the world. Nothing is more permanent than the power of a word. Each experience is a lesson not only for us to learn, but a lesson to share with others.
Life is a journey that will take us to places beyond our wildest dreams if we open up, let go and trust that the path will lead us where we are meant to be. We should embrace each and every opportunity with open arms and continue to believe that there is a happy ending in store for each of us. Putting distance between yourself and the one that doesn’t return your love is said to be a good thing. The only thing that people forget to mention is that going to a town that could or does hold a memory of that person, doesn’t help. I never thought it was possible to be six hours away from someone in a city that I had never been in could hold a memory, but I discovered sometimes, just the mention of a place can build a memory. At one time, an invitation was extended to get away for the weekend, but life happens, feelings “change” and trips never get taken. When I decided to go on vacation with my mom and my son, it never crossed my mind that I would be going on the trip that I was supposed to have taken with someone else. I never imagined that I would spend the six-hour drive thinking about him and a trip that never even took place. Going on vacation with my family was meant to get me away and give me a chance to clear my head. Not exactly what happened. A memory can’t be made without an action actually taking place to remember....right? Apparently, depending on the person and the feelings attached, even the mere mention of something can make a memory. The mind is a strange thing. It has the power to turn the smallest, insignificant thing, into a memory that will last forever. It has the tendency to make the mind wonder ‘what if’ about the smallest details. Sometimes one trip not taken is only the beginning to an even better trip. Possibly one that could last longer than you ever expected. One small trip, or one not taken, can turn into the best journey ever. Take the time and listen to the wisdom that is within your heart and you will know the answer you are looking for. Not every journey will be smooth but they will all be worth it. Nothing is ever a waste of time as long as we walk away with a lasting memory or a lesson. Each piece of the journey helps make us the person that we are meant to be. Every painful moment makes us stronger and even though it causes us doubt, doesn’t mean that we should give up. The doubts are only a test of faith and what we truly believe. There will always be hard times, even in that fairy tale, but believing that we will get through the hard times and that we will come out a better person after it will only make the journey that much more enjoyable. There is a happy ending for everyone but sometimes that ending can be shadowed by the hurt and the loss that comes before. There has to be pain in life so that we can appreciate and notice the happy moments. There also has to be loss, especially in love, otherwise that special someone wouldn’t find their way to our lives. Amanda Moreno is a staff writer for the Sweetwater Reporter.
