Here are upcoming events in Nolan County:
Monday, May 12 Dual Credit Registration Registration for TSTC/Dual credit classes for Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the Sweetwater High School cafeteria. Students taking dual-credit classes for the first time must have a completed application at the time of registration. Parents are encouraged to attend.
American Legion Sweetwater American Legion Post #109 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the Jaycees building, 1001 Crane Street. All members and veteran interested in becoming members are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 766-3464.
Tuesday, May 13 Blowout Meeting A meeting for junior and senior parents who wish to help with Blowout will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the county courtroom in the Nolan County Courthouse. Please use the East doors to enter the courthouse.
Masons Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will have a stated meeting Tuesday, May 13. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. All E.A. and FC. degree Masons are invited to attend. Visitors are welcome.
SCS Spring Program Sweetwater Christian School will be having their spring program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall. The public is invited to attend. Wednesday, May 14 BCISD Transfers Blackwell CISD is now accepting applications for transfer students for the 2008-2009 school year. Transfers will be considered at the Wednesday, May 14, board meeting. Kindergarten registration will take place that day. Pre-K registration will be Thursday, May 15. Thursday, May 15 Brown Bag Pickup Brown Bag pickup will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Jack Lambert community center.
ESL Summer School The Sweetwater Independent School District will offer an ESL (English as a Second Language) summer school program if 10 children qualify for the services. Registration deadline is Thursday, May 15. The eight-week program will be offered from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. beginning Wednesday, June 11, and will end Friday, Aug. 1. To be eligible for the program, a child must be at least four years of age by Sept. 1, and entering kindergarten or first grades in the fall of 2008. In addition, the student must be able to speak and comprehend the English language. Blood Pressure Checks The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department will sponsor blood pressure checks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Nolan County Courthouse. Information will be available on how to prevent high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes. May is National High Blood Pressure Education Month. |
