AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Jerry Lowry of New Caney and Larry May of Sweetwater to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards for terms to expire Jan. 31, 2013. The commission establishes standards for the care and treatment of county prisoners, and the construction, maintenance and operation of county jails.
May is a certified public accountant and partner with May and Hrbacek. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, he is AICPA designated as a personal financial specialist and is a certified financial planner. May is an executive board member of the West Central Council of Government and commissioner for the city of Sweetwater. May received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He replaces Evelyn Moyer of Magnolia. Lowry is executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Greenspoint District, a commercial and residential community located in the north Houston area. He is an advisory director for Amegy Bank of Texas, chairman of the Greenspoint Community Partners Board and a certified by the American Society for Industrial Security as a protection professional.
