Violet (Janssen) Panzer died on March 6, 2012, in Arlington, Tx. Services will we held at 11 a.m. on March 10, 2012 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Abilene, Texas, 4933 South 7th Street, with Rev. LaVerne Janssen officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 at McCoy Funeral Home, Sweetwater, Tx.
Violet Janssen was born on June 30, 1918, near Sylvan Grove, Kansas. She married Carl Panzer on Sept. 30, 1936, at St. John Lutheran Church near Lincoln, Kansas. After moving to Sweetwater in 1953, she and Carl were in the gas and oil business for over 30 years and later established several other local businesses. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling and meeting new friends all over the United States for many years in their Airstream trailer and later a Winnebago motor home.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband Carl on August 17, 2001, after almost 65 years of marriage; and son, Larry Panzer on Feb. 24, 2009.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Magill and husband Duane of Fair Oaks, Calif. and Bonnie Dunham of Arlington, Texas; and daughter-in-law, June Panzer of Sweetwater, Texas.
She loved and took great pleasure in visiting with her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many family members and friends. Her faith and various activities in the Lutheran church were always a priority in her life. She will be remembered for her impressive cooking skills, especially the cream puffs that nobody else could replicate.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories at 2:30 p.m., under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Abilene, Lutheran Hour Ministries, or a charity of your choice.
Pallbearers will be Cary Panzer, John Morris, Larry Lovin, Kelly Wren, Jason Jones, Tony Tharp and Jaden Jones.
