Funeral services for Virgie June Crawford, 72, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Clowers officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Crawford died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center.
She was born June 1, 1939, in West Virginia. She married Charles R. Crawford on Nov. 15, 1958, in West Virginia. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She had lived in Sweetwater since 1959. She retired as shipping manager for Walls Industries after 25 years of service. She had also worked for Ridley’s Packing and Sweetwater Broom Factory.
Survivors include her son, Allen Crawford and wife Merry of Sweetwater; daughter, Debbie Roberts and husband Jerry of Roscoe; sister, Mildred Adkins of White Oak West Virginia; five grandchildren, Candace Smith and husband Wayland of Sweetwater, Brook Bailey of Roby, Marsha Smith and husband Nathan of Abilene, Nancy Espinoza and husband Alex of San Angelo and David Crawford of Sweetwater; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Destynee, Devon, Dakota, Sara, Erica and James.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Crawford on Aug. 1, 1994; her parents, four sisters; and one great-grandchild, Hank Smith on July 5, 2011.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Smith, Alex Espinoza, David Crawford, Terry Burton, Rodney Reep and Joe Hasty.
