A graveside service for Wayne V. McDonald, 80, of Sweetwater, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Huron Valley Cemetery in Flat Rock, Mich. under the direction of Ford Chapel Funeral Home. Local arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Ford Chapel Funeral Home in Rockwood, Michigan.
McDonald died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at his residence in Sweetwater.
He was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Newport, Mich. He married Ivalene Wagner on Jan. 28, 1952, in Angola, Indiana. He served in the National Guard from January 1948 to January 1964, as First Lieutenant Infantry. He lived in and out of Sweetwater since 1981, and he was a store manager in the automotive department of the Western Auto Store in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his wife, Ivalene McDonald of Sweetwater; four sons, Michael Locke and wife Karen of Armada, Michigan, Terry McDonald of Columbus, Ohio, Mark McDonald of Monroe, Michigan and Tim McDonald and wife Carrissa of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three daughters, Cindy Borsheim and husband Jeff of Covina, California, Laura Muñoz and husband Pio of Sweetwater and Amy Rivera of LaGuna Niguel, California; one brother, David McDonald; two sisters, Barbara Oerther and husband John and Yvonne Mexiott and husband Mark; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Pamela Miekos.
