BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
2012 will hold for us days of sunshine and joy as well as darkness and sorrow. How will you handle those times of stress and darkness? Will you let God guide? Will you hide His Word in your heart to lean upon? Will you walk in the light as He is in the light? It is easy to be deceived, when we are not walking in the light of Godâs Word. Charles Lindbergh tells about the time he was flying in a dense fog over Newfoundland. He noticed moisture beginning to freeze on the wings of his plane and thought, âThis great adventure is going to come to an untimely end. What shall I do?âÂ
Then, he had a moment of inspiration. He pulled his plane up and out of the fog and burst into the dazzling sunlight. Have you ever felt like you were living in a fog? Friend, He has a word of encouragement for you. You can get near to the heart of God. His light can shine even in the darkest corner of your heart, if you will look to Him. Let Godâs Word shine in your heart to reveal and remove the doubt and fear.
âMissions Mattersâ is the theme for our annual Missions Conference this year. This conference will be Jan. 25-29. Our guests missionaries will be the following: Dan Powers, missionary to Cambodia, Chad Morton, missionary to East Asia and Larry Quinlan, missionary to Indonesia.
We are revamping our Childrenâs program on Sunday mornings. âKid Zoneâ begins Sunday, Feb. 5. This program involves some exciting changes in our Sunday school and Childrenâs Church Departments.
You are invited to "A Marriage Seminar" on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. hosted by Broadway Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Jerry Thorpe. Please call the church at 235-2730, if you would be interested in coming.
If you donât have a church home, we would love for you to come and visit us this Sunday, the 15th. Our Life Groups, which is for all ages, starts at 10 a.m. Our morning service is at 10:50 a.m. and our evening service begins at 6 p.m. Come and let us be a blessing to you as we worship the Lord together.

Bible study will continue in the book of Matthew on the 25th, at 7 p.m., at the church. All are invited to attend.
As we return to the routine of our daily lives and are beginning anew in 2012, âBless This Houseâ ask prayers that we continue to grow in our faith and strengthen our commitment to following Jesus Christ. No matter what life experiences we face in the new year, may we always remember the Lord is walking beside us or carrying us in his arms during times of happiness or sadness, in sickness or health and through joys or disappointments. May we always praise and glorify Him and show His love to our fellowman.
You are always invited to join us at 1801 Lamar Street, sharing in our vision of making Disciples of Jesus Christ, growing spiritually, fulfilling our God-given gifts, witnessing to others, and ministering to ones in need.

THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST
OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
This year, we are studying the life of George Albert Smith, the eighth president of the church. At age 34, he made a list of resolutions that he called his "personal creed" â 11 ideals that he committed to live by:
* I would be a friend to the friendless and find joy in ministering to the needs of the poor.
* I would visit the sick and afflicted and inspire in them a desire for faith to be healed.
* I would teach the truth to the understanding and blessing of all mankind.
* I would seek out the erring one and try to win him back to a righteous and a happy life.
* I would not seek to force people to live up to my ideals but rather love them into doing the thing that is right.
* I would live with the masses and help to solve their problems that their earth life may be happy.
* I would avoid the publicity of high positions and discourage the flattery of thoughtless friends.
* I would not knowingly wound the feelings of any, not even one who may have wronged me, but would seek to do him good and make him my friend.
* I would overcome the tendency to selfishness and jealousy and rejoice in the successes of all the children of my Heavenly Father.
* I would not be an enemy to any living soul.
Primary will be starting a Cub Scout Pack in February. We will be meeting the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. This will be open to all 8-11 year old boys.
Jan. 22 â A special satellite presentation will be broadcast at the chapel celebrating the 100th anniversary of the seminary program. It will begin at 7 p.m. All students and future students and their families are asked to attend.
Jan. 28 â The Abilene Stake Women's Conference will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the chapel on Southwest Boulevard in San Angelo. The theme is "Setting the Pace of our Priorities." Workshops will be given and then a luncheon at 12.
