May 19, 2011

See art from West Texas Art Guild artists on display at the County-City Library throughout the month of May.

The May art exhibit at the County-City Library is the artwork of the West Texas Art Guild. The members displaying their work are Karen Burt, Glenda Gentry, Carolyn Walker, Pamela Walker, Ann Jennings, Estelle Howard, Judy Hill, Leada Wood, Linda Rupard and Christina Andrews.
The West Texas Art Guild is located in Colorado City. Members come from Colorado City, Big Spring, Roscoe, San Angelo, Sweetwater, Snyder and other surrounding communities. The group promotes art in several ways.
Each November the club hosts a Regional Art Show, open to all artists, not just club members. They host a Children's Art Show in the spring presenting them with ribbons and also art supplies as prizes. "It is amazing what wonderful things the children produce," said members. "We also host an Art Exhibit in the spring that enables the community to see what talent our adult artists possess."
Their art has been exhibited at the County-City Library and also businesses in and around Colorado City.
They are a non-profit organization and the majority of the money raised goes straight back into their community. They also give a scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in some art form.
The hours for the library are Monday from 1-6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
